IHow far did Odysseus travel?

Two hundred miles of wine-dark sea.

Homer counts the voyage in years and days at sea, never in miles. StoryTrek’s route follows the traditional geography of the Mediterranean, with distances scaled to 200 miles and 17 waypoints drawn from the epic. Every walk, run, or treadmill session your phone records carries you closer to Ithaca.

IIThe road ahead

A son’s search, a father’s voyage.

The route opens with Telemachus setting out to learn what became of his father. From there it follows Odysseus from Troy across the sea, past the Cyclops, Circe, the Land of the Dead, and the Sirens, under the wrath of Poseidon, until he finally reaches Ithaca.

Each waypoint pairs one of N. C. Wyeth’s paintings from the 1929 edition with a moment and a quotation from the epic. Reach one, and the next stretch of sea opens. For the full voyage, try The Odyssey: Epic.
